I like the veneer but there is a piece missing, can it be repaired?

Yes. We can replace areas that are missing or damaged without having to replace the whole veneer.

My dashboard looks too shiny and 'plasticy'. Can it look better?

Definitely. The lacquer finish often used for dashboards does give that shiny finish. Classic Dashboards uses a traditional French polish finish which gives it a lustre and brings out the characteristic of the grain.

Does Classic Dashboards hand finish the woodwork?

Yes. The colouring (staining) of the veneer, the French Polishing and the waxing is all carried out by hand.

My dashboard has been badly restored previously elsewhere. Can it be made good?

Absolutely. Whether your woodwork needs restoration due to the ravages of time or simply a bad restoration job we can achieve your requirements.

Is it possible for my restored dashboard to look old?

Yes. You can choose to have a distressed, antiqued or aged finish. Please discuss your requirements with us and we will do our best to achieve exactly the finish you are looking for.

Can you replace dials and switches?

No. This isn't our area of expertise.

How much will it cost?

It is impossible to quote for restoration work correctly without seeing it in person. There are so many elements to pricing, that it would be irresponsible of us not to inspect your wooden trim. The price depends on many factors, such as How many items there are and how big are they? What finish is there already? Does the veneer need replacing? Is the actual wood damaged? Is the groundwork de-laminating? If detailed photos are emailed to me then a ballpark figure can be given.

Are the dashboards restored in the car?

No. We ask that you take all the pieces that need restoration out of your car and supply them to us.

How do we get them to you?

If you live in London, the South East of England or Lower Normandy we may be able to collect the items. If you live further afield as most of our customers do, then carefully package the pieces and post them to us. Please call us to find out if you are in our delivery area.

If after restoration the woodwork is damaged or scratched in years to come can it be repaired without stripping it and starting again?

Yes. If you have chosen a French polish finish this can be achieved. We can just wash back the wax and then repair the damage. Once that has been carried out we then redo the French polish and then wax.
